Dr. Oscar Vazquez
Dr. Oscar Vazquez is the Head Orthopedic Surgeon for Morris Elite FC. He is Board Certified in both Orthopedic Surgery and Orthopedic Sports Medicine. He is the Chief of Orthopedic Surgery at Hackensack Meridian Medical Center at Mountainside. Dr. Vazquez is also an Assistant Professor at the Rutgers Medical School and at the Hackensack University School of Medicine and is a board member of the New Jersey Orthopedic Society.
A Newark New Jersey native, Dr. Vazquez attended Queen of Peach High School of North Arlington. He completed his undergraduate education at Cornell University, earning a B.A. in neurobiology and behavior.
Dr. Vazquez subsequently was awarded his M.D. from Johns Hopkins University in 2003. For the next five years, he was a resident at New York University/Hospital for Joint Diseases. Upon completing his residency, Dr. Vazquez received specialty training in sports medicine and shoulder & elbow surgery as a fellow at the University of Southern California (USC), studying under Dr. James Tibone and Dr. John Itamura. He also received specialized training in hip arthroscopy under Dr. Jason Snibbe. At USC, Dr Vazquez was the head team physician for the woman’s soccer team, the defending NCAA Division I Champions. He also served as Assistant Team Physician for football, basketball, and baseball, among others.
Dr. Vazquez is the author of numerous research studies and papers detailing the treatment of a variety of sports injuries. He has particular proficiency in advanced arthroscopic procedures including the shoulder, elbow, hip and knee. In addition to fellowship training in orthopedic sports medicine, he also has specific subspecialization in shoulder and elbow surgery including trauma, ligament reconstruction, and arthroplasty including revision. He also has training in the latest techniques of hip preservation using arthroscopic techniques such as labral repair and impingement correction surgery.
In addition to Morris Elite FC, Dr. Vazquez is the Chief Medical Officer for NJ/NY Gotham FC. He is the head team physician for Felician University, St. Thomas Aquinas College, and Stevens Institute of Technology. He is the school physician for multiple high schools including Wood-Ridge, Becton Regional, and Pascack Hills. He has also served as a ringside doctor for USA Boxing and Golden Gloves.
Dr. Vazquez is a member of the Summit Health Orthopedic Team where he serves as Director of Northern New Jersey. He has offices in the New Jersey towns of Hackensack, Glenridge, and Emerson.
