MORRISTOWN, NJ — Morris Elite Soccer Club is proud to announce its exclusive youth affiliation with the New York Cosmos USL League One franchise, set to begin play in March 2026. This historic partnership positions Morris Elite as the official youth affiliate of the Cosmos, creating a direct pathway from youth soccer to the professional level.
As part of this affiliation, Morris Elite will operate the Morris Elite Cosmos USL Academy Team, the only USL Academy program in New Jersey officially connected to a professional USL League One franchise. To mark this milestone, we sat down with club Founder and President, Vincenzo Bernardo, who is also part of the Cosmos ownership group, to discuss what this affiliation means and what’s next for Morris Elite.

Q&A with Vincenzo Bernardo, President of Morris Elite Soccer Club
Q: Vincenzo, Morris Elite just announced a groundbreaking youth affiliation with the New York Cosmos. What does this mean for your club?
A: This is truly a historic moment for Morris Elite. Partnering with the Cosmos one of the most iconic names in world football allows us to provide a direct, professional pathway from youth soccer to USL League One. Our players now have a clearly defined future that leads from our youth academy, through the Morris Elite Cosmos USL Academy team, and into the professional ranks.

Q: You’ve called this a “new era” for Morris Elite. Can you expand on what that means?
A: A new era means raising the bar in everything we do. For our players, it means higher standards in training, competition, and accountability because they now have a professional team to aspire to. For our families, it means reassurance that their child is in an environment that truly invests in long term player development. And for our staff and club as a whole, it means we are part of a global movement aligning youth soccer in the U.S. with how it’s done around the world, where academies and first teams are connected.

Q: What excites you the most about the Cosmos partnership?
A: Two things. First, the opportunity to showcase the incredible talent in the tristate area on a professional stage. Growing up here myself, I know how much potential this area has. Second, being part of the Cosmos ownership group personally allows me to help shape the future of the club not just as a partner, but as someone directly involved in soccer operations. I’m proud and grateful for that opportunity, and I believe we can make a lasting impact on U.S. soccer together.

Q: What’s next for Morris Elite in the short term?
A: Our immediate focus is the 2025/26 season. We’re entering our ninth year as a club, and with the Cosmos affiliation in place, we want to make this our most impactful season yet. We are in the best position we’ve ever been in with quality of players, teams and league structure and coaching staff. We will continue to build competitive teams across all age groups, strengthening our USL W League and USL League Two programs, and preparing for the first year of the Morris Elite Cosmos USL Academy team. We will be hosting Morris Elite Cosmos USL academy tryouts in September and early November. We will be rostering a team consisting of the top talent in the area and showcase them at premier USL events with some players potentially signing USL academy contracts with Cosmos. We will be doing the same on the women’s side in the near future.

Q: And looking ahead — what’s next for you personally, Vincenzo?
A: Personally, I feel like I’m living a dream come true. From starting Morris Elite in 2016 with just a vision, to now leading a club tied directly to a professional franchise, to joining the Cosmos ownership group it’s been an incredible journey. I’m even more confident and motivated to continue building my vision which is for Morris Elite to continue setting itself apart by leading with innovation modernizing the youth soccer mindset around development and creating a true pathway to both college and the professional game. This is a pure passion of mine and I am so grateful for being able to do what I love to do every single day.
