Five Morris Elite Players Make Cosmos B Debut in USL Academy Victory

Morris County, NJ — Morris Elite Soccer Club is proud to announce that five players from within the club made their official debuts for Cosmos B in the opening match of the USL Academy season — a clear milestone in the continued growth of the club’s player pathway.

Cosmos B opened the campaign with a 1–0 victory over Philadelphia Lone Star FC, with the winning goal coming in the 88th minute from Morris Elite forward Vincenzo Bernardo, who also becomes the youngest player to score in USL Academy competition.

The match featured five Morris Elite players earning their first appearances at the USL Academy level:

  • Kevin Lizano (2006, Goalkeeper)
  • Kelvin Escobar (2007, Winger)
  • Mateo Osario (2007, Midfielder)
  • Chase Chalemin (2009, Defender)
  • Vincenzo Bernardo (2011, Forward)

Each player stepped into the environment with confidence and composure, a direct reflection of the standards and consistency built within Morris Elite. Their selection and performances reinforce the club’s long-term commitment to developing players and providing real opportunities at the next level.

The Morris Elite–Cosmos connection continues to show its strength, with Cosmos B — operated by Morris Elite — serving as a true bridge within the pathway. Players are now gaining experience in a higher-level environment, training and competing alongside older, more experienced players within a professional structure.

Cosmos B Head Coach Darrell Etienne shared:

“These young players train every day alongside 20–25-year-old players, which creates a level of development they simply can’t replicate in their own age group. They’re responding to that challenge, and it showed in our first game. We’re just getting started.”

Morris Elite President Vincenzo Bernardo added:

“This is what real development looks like. This is what a true pathway should be in today’s American soccer landscape — it’s real, it’s legitimate, and it’s happening every day within our environment.

These players have earned this opportunity through their commitment and consistency, and now they’re stepping into a platform that continues to push them forward.

At the same time, Cosmos B is competing at a high level across multiple platforms, currently sitting in first place in both the USL Academy League and UPSL. That level of performance is putting our program on the national stage and showing exactly what this pathway can produce.

There’s real momentum behind what we’re building — players see it, families believe in it, and more players want to be part of it.”

This moment represents a strong early example of the Morris Elite–Cosmos pathway in action — where development, performance, and consistency lead to meaningful opportunities at the next level.

As the season progresses, Morris Elite remains focused on continuing to identify, develop, and advance players through this structure, raising the standard and creating a clear path forward for the next generation.
